Description:
This 3-hour lecture style workshop introduces you to the basics of Adobe InDesign. Starting with creating and saving files and
getting familiar with the Adobe workspace, we will learn to create and
manipulate graphic objects, create and modify text, and place graphics
from other sources. Other topics we will explore include color and
swatches, smart guides, and working with simple paths. If you've
transitioned from QuarkXPress or PageMaker, or want to move up from
word processing or entry level software, this class will give you the
tools you need to get started right away with InDesign!
Once you've taken this workshop, you can continue learning with Getting Started with InDesign, Part 2, which builds on the basics introduced in this offering.
Presented in Adobe CS5, but most of what is taught will apply to
earlier
versions of the program.
Presented as a Lecture-Style Workshop:
These are our most affordable training programs, designed to introduce a subject quickly and efficiently. Students can take notes from the instructor's projected computer screen, and/or bring their own computer to follow along. Lecture-style workshops are normally held on weekday evenings from 6 pm – 9 pm and contain a maximum of 30 students (average is 8-20).
Who Should Take This:
Anyone who wants to create page layouts for brochures, catalogs, books, and other print media, whether a 3-page brochure or a 500-page book. Students should have a sound working knowledge of either a PC or Mac.
Instructor:
Erica Gamet, co-owner of Digital Dimensions, is an InDesign trainer with more than 18 years' experience in the pre-press trenches. She has contributed to InDesign Magazine and Design Tools Monthly and is the author of The InDesigners Workbook series.
