Description:
In the spirit of Mark Johnson's educational coffee-table book, Botanical
Dreaming, this interactive class encourages you to embrace new creative
ideas and explore your outer limits. Join Mark on a thrill-ride into
Photoshop's artistic realm. This class will cover:- How to use blending modes to create ethereal, soft-glow montages
- The secrets behind multi-image montage
- A method for creating geometric shapes and patterns through rotated and flipped montage
- How to simulate the look of multiple-exposure rotated and zoomed montages
- A simple way to blend an owl into a forested background
- How to use Photoshop's impressive new Auto-Align feature to blend two photographs
- Advanced blending techniques for adding a worn look to text and for bringing a water lily magically to the foreground
- How to move a transparent wine glass from one location to another
- The secret to creating breathtaking multi-panel panoramas
- How to paint with light to add drama to a scene
If you prefer to work on your own laptop, you may bring it, but keep in mind that you must have Photoshop CS5 installed and working properly.  The instructor will not be able to assist you with your own computer.  Additionally, please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for the instructor to load the working files onto your laptop.
Presented in Adobe CS5, but most of what is taught will apply to earlier
versions of the program.
Presented as a Hands-On Intensive:
These in-depth one or two-day classes are designed for students to follow along with the instructor on BDA-provided Macintosh computers. For maximum impact and the best student experience all intensives are limited to seven participants. Hands-on intensives are usually during the day from 9am - 5pm. Our Hands-On Intensives are the perfect way to gain in-depth knowledge!
Who Should Take This:
A sound understanding of basic computer operation. The class will be presented in Macintosh OS X.
Instructor:
 Mark S. Johnson is a Photoshop luminary, photographer, author, and one of the most passionate instructors you will ever encounter. He wrote, photographed, and designed the internationally-recognized book, Botanical Dreaming—one of five featured books in Outdoor Photographer’s 2008 Annual Landscape issue. Mark's immensely popular eBook, the Photographer's Photoshop CS4 Companion, has helped thousands of photographers from around the globe understand and enjoy Photoshop. His signature video tutorial series, The Photoshop Workbench, was viewed by half a million unique visitors last year.
Through the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, The Radiant Vista, and Boulder Digital Arts, Mark has taught countless people, including Adobe’s Chief Executive Officers, Bruce Chizen and Shantanu Narayen. His articles appear regularly on the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) web site, and his imagery and articles have been featured in Photo Techniques, Nature’s Best, and After Capture magazines.
