Getting Started with jQuery
Registration is required for this offering (below).
Description:
THIS IS A TWO-EVENING CLASS (takes place on two nights, so as to allot enough time to cover all the material both nights are covered in the tuition)

Who says writing Rich Internet Applications or creating slick, friendly user interfaces is hard? Who says you need Flash for any kind of animation or cool effects? With jQuery all this and more becomes incredibly simple, and in this class you'll gain a fundamental understanding of how jQuery works, and how to write elegant client-side code with it.

This workshop will cover:

  • JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)
  • How best to load jQuery and where to load it from
  • Foundational jQuery usage
  • Selecting specific element(s)
  • Manipulating the DOM
  • Using jQuery to modifying CSS
  • Event handling
  • Effects such as sliding and fading
  • Asynchronous Requests (AJAX)

Participant Comments
I thought that Richard Jones did an excellent job in the Getting started with jQuery class. He used lots and lots of examples to explain things, tried hard to get us to think and answer questions, and was very generous in sharing his code with us.
