Color Management for Photographers
Registration is required for this offering (below).
Description:
If you're ready to stop wasting time and money on print remakes and tweaks, this is the workshop for you.  Today’s photographer has a huge variety of choices when deciding how to produce a print.  There are many papers and substrates, and just as many different methods of printing on them.  Some devices are RGB and others are CMYK.  In spite of so many variables you can obtain accurate, predictable, and repeatable print results by implementing a color management system.  This class will benefit self printers, commercial printers, and photographers that trust their work to commercial printing labs.  Methods and practices discussed will be relevant to digitally produced inkjet and silver based prints.

We will cover some of the basics, including the principles of color management and what it entails.  We will quickly progress to discuss color managed workflows, and you'll learn how to implement a color management system in Adobe Photoshop. We will discuss the benefits of advanced printing solutions, with plenty of time allotted at the end of each section for questions.  This class includes a booklet for reference and taking notes.

PLEASE NOTE:  This class begins at 5pm!
Presented as a Lecture-Style Workshop:

Instructor:
Matthew Oke is a consultant and service provider based in Fort Collins Colorado. Before starting his own venture, Run the Gamut LLC, he worked for several commercial printers creating photographs, fine art reproductions, signs and displays, and other products. Matthew’s digital printing experience dates back to the 1990s when the first large format pigment inkjet printers became available. Since then, he has used inkjet printing technology in many applications, always building custom workflows and print environments for each substrate and application. Matthew now uses his knowledge of color management, digital workflows, and inkjet printing solutions to assist commercial photo, giclee, and screen printers, photographers, artists, and designers with digital printing solutions and color managed workflows.
