Schedule

    Monday

  • 9am - 5pm : Emotional Cinematography
Filmmaking is a collaborative storytelling process where the Director of Photography brings an essential emotion to the film. Whether you are working with a director who is very specific in what they want or with one who leaves you a lot of artistic freedom, the DP needs to know the various ways to frame and light a scene in order to achieve a certain effect, set a mood or make a statement.
  • Tuesday

  • 9am - 5pm : Advanced Lighting Techniques
Lighting is an integral part of the storytelling process. Whether we are lighting a feature film, an interview or a food show we are telling a story. Light is necessary every time we focus the lens. The way a picture on the screen impacts the viewer is determined by the light. The quality, angle and brightness of the light evoke different emotions. This workshop will demonstrate lighting techniques that will help you apply the art and craft of lighting in your film-making endeavors.
  • Wednesday

  • 9am - Noon : Advanced Audio Techniques
This session discusses difficult micrphone placement, challenging situations and shoots and managing a range of sound sources/wireless devices. You'll also learn a range of insider tips and techniques from a professional audio guy.
  • 1pm - 5pm : Interview Techniques
The interview is one of the most common situations you'll encounter. How the interview is conducted and the coverage you get can often make or break the production. In this session you'll learn expert tips and techniques to ensure you get the best interviews possible.
  • Thursday

  • 9am - Noon : Shooting with Multiple Cameras
In this session you'll learn how to effectively produce multi-camera productions from directing shots for best coverage to syncing camera timecode.
  • 1pm - 5pm : Shooting Greenscreen/Bluescreen
Many productions call for shooting greenscreen/bluescreen for chroma keying in post-production. In this session you'll learn how to setup these shoots and effective lighting techniques that are critical to produce a high-quality key in the edit suite.
  • Friday

  • 9am - 1pm : Moving the Camera for Dynamic Shots
Learn how to create beautiful moving shots with dollies, jibs and stedicams. These shots will add color and interest to your productions like nothing else!
