Web Marketing and Social Media One-Week Certificate Program
Registration is required for this offering (below).

In this one week certificate program you will learn about search engine optimization, managing pay-for-placement advertising campaigns (including Google AdWords) and social media marketing techniques. You will gain the professional skills necessary to increase valuable traffic and build bigger online audiences.

Program Description

In this one-of-a-kind program you will be immersed into the world of web marketing from one of the smartest and most experienced expert in the industry! In one week you'll be introduced to proven strategies for growing your online audience with qualified traffic. You'll learn the fundamental principals and insider tips for search engine optimization, pay-for-placement advertising, social media marketing and other more. This program will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to provide these immensely valuable and in-demand services for all organizations who need to grow their online audiences - all in one week and one place.

Equipment

BDA provides a computer workstation when necessary; however, some people prefer to bring their own computer in order to use it during our mentoring hours or practice what they've learned in the evenings. If you are planning on bringing your own computer our staff person will provide you a list of all the necessary software and/or hardware requirements in advance of the program.

Schedule

    Monday

  • 9am - Noon : Web Marketing Overview
    You'll be introduced to the big picture of web marketing and learn the strengths/weaknesses of each traffic generation strategy (SEO, SEM, PPC, Social Media Marketing, etc.).
  • 1pm - 5pm : Organic Search Engine Optimization
    You'll learn how search engines work, the importance of links, code-level optimizations, content optimizations, black hat vs. white hat and SEO best practices. We'll also demonstrate examples of organic results from different industries on Google and analyze why some businesses are doing well while their competitors are not.
  • Tuesday

  • 9am - Noon : Advanced Search Engine Optimization
    During this session you'll learn about cutting-edge and advanced search engine optimization strategies.
  • 1pm - 3pm : Copy and Conversions
    This session will focus on how a website's copy and user interface help convert qualified traffic into conversions (sales, sign-ups, etc.). We'll also discuss copy and content as it relates to organic search engine optimization.
  • 3pm - 5pm : Analytics and Tracking Tools
    In this session we'll dig deep into Google Analytics and other campaign tracking tools. What are the metrics, what they mean and how to use this data to make intelligent and strategic decisions and website improvements.
  • Wednesday

  • 9am - 3pm : Google AdWords and PPC Campaigns
    Discussion of PPC (pay-per-click) advertising campaigns with emphasis on Google AdWords. Demonstrate setting up AdWords account and campaign and discuss best practices, tips and insider stragegies getting the most from AdWords advertising.
  • 3pm - 5pm : Q&A
    You've been exposed to a lot of information! This is your chance to get specific questions answered and explore scenarios with your peers.
  • Thursday

  • 9am - 3pm : Social Media Marketing
    In this session we'll introduce you to social media, how it's used for marketing as well as the most effective methods and best practices and tips for efficiency. We'll also explore case studies from successful use of social media in marketing.
  • 3pm - 5pm : Trends
    Learn about cutting-edge emerging trends in SEO, PPC and social media marketing!
  • Friday

  • 9am - 3pm : Putting It All Together
    In this session we will collaboratively create an integrated web marketing strategy for a fictional organization using all the knowledge, tools and strategies you've learned.
  • 3pm - 5pm : Wrap-Up and Q&A

Instructor

Dave TaylorDave Taylor has been involved with the Internet since 1980 and is widely recognized as an expert on both technical and business issues. He has been published over a thousand times, launched four Internet-related startup companies, has written twenty business and technical books and holds both an MBA and MS Ed. Dave maintains four weblogs: The Business Blog at Intuitive.com, Ask Dave Taylor, Dave On Film, and Attachment Parenting Blog. Dave is an award-winning speaker, sought after conference and workshop participant and frequent guest on radio and pod programs.

Evening Mentoring

BDA is committed to providing the best learning experience possible. One of the distinctive benefits of our Transitions Certificate Programs is evening mentoring from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Our evening mentors are different than the class instructors who are also working professionals in the industry offering you a broader perspective and a great opportunity to practice the skills you've learned, get particular questions answered or simply hang-out with peers and exchange ideas and conversation.

Parking is available all around the building.
