Introduction to Aperture, Part 1
What You'll Learn
With Aperture 3 for the Mac, you can easily manage and edit thousands of digital images from capture to output and backup. Designed for digital photographers using Camera RAW, Aperture's incredible tools let you speed through photo edits, make essential image adjustments, and publish photos online and in print using one simple, integrated, nondestructive workflow.
This workshop gives an overview of the basic tools and practices of Aperture. We'll begin with an explanation of the library structure and the nondestructive file version format, followed by a tour of Aperture's powerful editing features.
This workshop will cover:
- Nondestructive editing
- Using the viewer and file browser
- Importing your photos
- Cropping & straightening
- Color correction & white balance
- Archiving and backing up your photos
- A brief overview of printing books and publishing to the web
Because Aperture is built around a specific workflow, we strongly recommend taking both Part 1 and Part 2 in order to understand the full process.
Who Should Take This
Digital photographers with a sound understanding of Mac OS X who want an all-in-one solution for managing and editing photos.

I recently took Introduction to Aperture, Parts 1 and 2 taught by John Waugh. I am a novice at digital photography, but still gained a tremendous amount of useful information from the course even though John was providing a large amount of advanced information to those light-years ahead of me. The course was interesting, well paced and the photography beautiful. Thanks to John.MattRead All Comments
