If you want an easy, powerful way to update your website/blog, you want WordPress, a flexible, highly customizable content management system (CMS)! Once you have WordPress installed on your web host, you need to learn how to create and manage content on your website.
If you've finished installing WordPress (or had a web developer do it for you), this two-night workshop will teach you the ins and outs of the WordPress interface so you'll be comfortable updating your site.
Day One will cover:
Day Two will cover:
WordPress.org is different from WordPress.com. WordPress.com is only for blogs and non-commercial sites. Though some of the information will be relevant to people using WordPress.com, BDA's workshops cover WordPress.org.
Other WordPress Workshops at BDA:
People who will be creating and managing content on a WordPress site, and web developers who need to train their clients. You must have a site set up and ready in WordPress 3.0+.
If you're looking to understand more about the technologies that make the web work or are confused by acronyms like FTP, HTML, CSS, CMS, web host, and domain registrar, you might look at taking our Fundamentals of Web Design first. Fundamentals will help you learn the basic development tools that will lead to being able to create fully customized Wordpress sites.
Bethany Siegler of UniqueThink helps build your complete online presence and find cost-effective marketing solutions. Bethany has created online marketing campaigns for musical artists as distinct as Frank Black (Pixies) and David Wilcox, software developers as diverse as Wild Divine and OfficeTime, and local independent businesses like The Video Station and Boulder Weekly. She has represented major corporations like SONY and Budweiser, yet prefers to find solutions for smaller companies, often by building sustainable websites and blogs in WordPress.
