ABOUT THE ARTIST
STATEMENT
I chose photography as a medium to express my emotions as my life experience has been very intense: from my native European city of Barcelona, where I was born and grew up during the Franco dictatorship, to crossing the Atlantic to live in South America (Argentina), to my move to Boulder, Colorado, where I currently reside. The ever-present backbone of this personal odyssey has been, and still is, the human condition, based on emotions of intense pain, existential anguish, a constant searching and a sense of humor as an essential survival tool.
In this exhibit, I show my creative process during these past four years of constant work with photography. On this journey, I have appealed to the history of post-War Europe (including the Spanish Civil War), the almost infantile expression of Romanesque and Gothic art, the colorful explosion of Kandinsky, and the Baroque technique of chiaroscuro, which, in photography, happens quite often in a natural way.
HER PROCESS
I have used everything from the tiny camera in my MacBook Air, to a small Sony point-and-shoot, to my iPhone, to a Nikon D800 DSLR. I then manipulate and process the images in Photoshop. These things, however, are merely tools and are secondary to the message I am trying to communicate.
