Paula Gillen Studio Photography
I am a skilled photographer and photo retoucher and I specialize in shooting 3D and 2D art and objects in my studio. I photograph flat art such as paintings, drawings, fabric quilted pieces, objects such as jewelry, clay, glass, stone and mirrored mosaics. I also document events and do candid business casual portraits. You can view this work at paulagillenphotography.com My photo studio/office is located in north Boulder.
(the only thing I do not shoot is highly reflective shiny oil paintings, but I know people who do!)
My background is in fine art and publishing. I have a BFA (Photography and Fine Art) from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and an MFA (Photography) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduate school, I worked for 20 years in NYC as a photo editor/researcher for prestigious publications such as The New Yorker, Time, Vanity Fair, Business Week, and People magazine. In 2008 I moved to Boulder where I continued doing freelance book design and photo research for various clients around the country. Since 2017 I have concentrated on studio and location photography.
My artist website paulagillen.net features my photomontage and photography artwork. I combine my own and vintage materials to create images that are neo-surrealist and reference social-political and psychological themes.
