I am a skilled photographer, artist, and photo retoucher. My background is in fine art and publishing. I worked for 20 years in NYC as a photo editor/researcher before moving to Boulder in 2008. I wear a lot of hats to make a living.
My website paulagillen.net features my photomontage and photography artwork. I use vintage materials to create images that reference social-political and psychological themes. I have been printing photos since I was 16 and I continue to use an Epson printer to make giclee prints of my artwork. I am involved with the NoBo Art District. I participate in First Fridays and I volunteer for NoBo as well.
I do freelance photo retouching for Velo Press in Boulder. I specialize in altering organic subjects, such as the human figure and face, landscapes, trees, water, sky, etc. I also drop in backgrounds and alter photos by matching and extending walls, floorboards, sky, water, as needed.
I do copy work for artists by photographing flat art and small sculptural pieces. See this work on my upcoming website: paulagillenphotography.com
I am a skilled photo researcher who locates and licenses images for editorial and non-for-profit clients since 1987. I clear copyright and permissions for editorial and commercial use. I organize and produce photo shoots as needed by clients. See this work at www.gillenedits.com
I design and produce small edition print-on-demand books/magazines for individuals and authors. See this work at www.gillenedits.com
I have a photo studio/office located in north Boulder.
