Intro to Photography: FOCUS
What You'll Learn
Our Focus on Focus workshop will help you learn the basics of using a digital camera at home, at work, or while you travel with an emphasis on the all-important need to get the subject sharply focused! The camera has an automatic focus setting - of course - but in this class you'll learn to adjust and tweak how that control functions for different types of images. Modern DSLR/Mirrorless camera focus settings can be really confusing, even for pros. This class will clarify the whole subject.
This hands-on class with your camera will walk you through all of the important settings - and learn the ones that are so specific they can usually be ignored. Learn to focus on moving subjects, learn to focus and then recompose without losing the sharpness you need. Learn when it's easier to use a manual focusing technique. Understand the Depth of Field concept and how it dovetails with the focusing. Should you use the shutter button for focus? Maybe not! Learn which settings you want to change and which ones to leave at the defaults.
Equipment for Class
You will need a camera with auto and manual focus settings. Contact us if you are not sure if your camera is appropriate.
Who Should Take This
Photographers who are just starting out and hobbyists/amateurs who want to get better will benefit from this class. Many take this soon after or just before getting a new camera. (This content is covered in the full-day Hands On Intro to Digital Photography offering, but the full day class is currently not being held due to the Corona virus.)
